Terms of Service
These Terms govern Addienator accounts, trials, subscriptions, application access, project files, and use of the service.
Effective date: September 13, 2026
1. Acceptance and Scope
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and ATELIER ADDIE INC., operating as Addienator (“Addienator,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
These Terms govern:
- the Addienator public website;
- member registration and protected access;
- Standard, Pro, and Enterprise plans;
- free trials and paid subscriptions;
- the browser-based Addienator application;
- portable Addienator project files;
- Word exports and supported imports;
- AI-provider connections; and
- related support services.
You accept these Terms when you create an account, begin a trial, purchase a subscription, affirmatively accept the Terms during registration, or otherwise use the protected Addienator application.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account, begin a trial, purchase a subscription, or use the protected application.
Additional terms may apply to Enterprise customers under a separate written agreement. If a separate Enterprise agreement conflicts with these Terms, the Enterprise agreement governs to the extent of the conflict.
2. Service Operator
Addienator is operated by:
ATELIER ADDIE INC.
Postal address:
Suite 313, 43 Boul. Samson, Laval, Quebec, Canada H7X 3R8
Email for legal and account notices:
3. Language of the Agreement
These Terms are available in Canadian French and English.
Where required by applicable law, the French version will be provided before you are asked to accept an English version.
If you choose the English version after the French version has been made available to you, you confirm your express wish to enter into the agreement in English.
The version you affirmatively accept governs your agreement, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
4. Accounts and Authority
4.1 Accurate Information
You must provide accurate and current registration, billing, and contact information.
You must update that information when it changes.
4.2 Authority to Accept
By accepting these Terms, you confirm that you have the legal capacity and authority necessary to enter into this agreement.
If you create or use an account on behalf of a business, employer, institution, or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.
4.3 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials;
- protecting access to your email account and devices;
- activity performed through your account;
- promptly notifying Addienator of suspected unauthorized access; and
- signing out of shared or public devices.
You may not share account credentials with another person or allow another person to use your individual account unless the applicable plan or written agreement expressly permits it.
Addienator will never ask you to submit passwords, API keys, payment-card information, or confidential source materials through a public Contact and Support form.
5. The Addienator Service
Addienator is a browser-based instructional-design application.
It helps users turn approved source material into structured instructional-design deliverables, which may include:
- a prepared Source Document;
- Discovery and course-scope decisions;
- Performance Objectives and Learning Objectives;
- a structured Course Outline;
- a detailed Design Document;
- a Summative Assessment Package;
- a Course Redesign report; and
- an On-the-Job Training program.
Addienator produces instructional-design documents and project artifacts. It does not publish a completed course to an authoring platform, learning management system, or production environment on your behalf.
You remain responsible for developing, approving, publishing, delivering, maintaining, and using any final training product created from Addienator outputs.
6. Plans and Feature Access
6.1 Available Plans
Addienator offers Standard, Pro, and Enterprise access.
The features available to you depend on your active subscription or Enterprise agreement.
6.2 Standard
Standard includes the guided core course-design workflow, supported delivery formats, portable project files, browser-based review and editing available within that plan, and the final Design Document Word export.
Standard uses the Express workflow where specified by the product.
6.3 Pro
Pro includes the Standard capabilities and additional functionality, including:
- interactive or Express workflow choices;
- broader Word exports;
- supported Word imports;
- Summative Assessment;
- Course Redesign; and
- On-the-Job Training.
6.4 Enterprise
Enterprise includes the Pro capabilities and uses an organization-controlled AI connection.
Enterprise features, pricing, deployment, support, user access, and commercial conditions may be governed by a separate written agreement.
6.5 Feature Availability
Features may differ by plan, project type, delivery format, browser capability, AI-provider capability, and organization configuration.
The Plans page and checkout flow describe the plan access offered at the time of purchase.
Plan controls do not transfer ownership of project content to Addienator.
7. Trials
7.1 One Seven-Day Trial per Account
An eligible first-time Addienator account receives one seven-day free trial at the plan selected during registration. The single trial applies across all four Standard and Pro monthly and annual subscriptions.
The trial tier matches the selected plan:
- a Standard trial provides Standard access; and
- a Pro trial provides Pro access.
Changing plan or billing schedule does not create another trial.
7.2 Payment Method
The payment method and amount due today are shown before confirmation.
An eligible first-time account owes $0 for the seven-day trial. An account that already used its trial begins paid access immediately at the disclosed price.
7.3 First Charge
For an eligible first-time account, if you do not cancel before the trial ends, the first paid subscription charge occurs after the trial under the disclosed terms. For an account that already used its trial, the first paid charge occurs immediately.
7.4 Cancellation During the Trial
An eligible first-time account may cancel before the end of the trial to prevent the first paid charge.
If you cancel during the trial:
- your selected tier remains available through day seven; and
- for an eligible first-time account, the first paid subscription charge does not occur.
8. Prices, Billing, and Automatic Renewal
8.1 Currency and Taxes
Standard and Pro prices are stated in US dollars and exclude applicable taxes unless expressly stated otherwise.
Applicable taxes are added as required by law and displayed during checkout.
8.2 Standard Pricing
The current Standard prices as of the effective date of these Terms are:
Monthly billing:
US$20 per month before tax.
Annual billing:
US$204 charged once per year before tax.
The annual price is equivalent to US$17 per month, but US$17 is not a monthly payment amount. The full US$204 annual amount is charged once per year.
8.3 Pro Pricing
The current Pro prices as of the effective date of these Terms are:
Monthly billing:
US$50 per month before tax.
Annual billing:
US$510 charged once per year before tax.
The annual price is equivalent to US$42.50 per month, but US$42.50 is not a monthly payment amount. The full US$510 annual amount is charged once per year.
8.4 Enterprise Pricing
Enterprise pricing is private, organization-based, and sales-assisted.
Enterprise billing may be arranged by invoice or another method stated in the applicable written agreement.
8.5 Automatic Renewal
Unless you cancel before the next renewal date:
- a monthly subscription renews automatically for another monthly billing period; and
- an annual subscription renews automatically for another annual billing period.
The payment method associated with the account will be charged the applicable renewal amount, plus taxes.
8.6 Payment Authorization
By providing a payment method, you authorize the payment provider to charge:
- the first subscription payment after the trial;
- recurring renewal payments;
- applicable taxes; and
- any other amount expressly disclosed and accepted before purchase.
Addienator does not impose an undisclosed mandatory fee.
8.7 Failed Payments
If a payment is declined, reversed, disputed, or otherwise unsuccessful, Addienator or the payment provider may:
- retry the payment;
- request an updated payment method;
- restrict or suspend paid access; or
- cancel the subscription,
subject to applicable law.
8.8 Future Price Changes
A price change will not alter the price for a paid period that has already begun.
A price change may apply to a future renewal or new subscription after notice has been provided as required by applicable law.
Where applicable law gives you a right to refuse a change or cancel without cost, that right remains available.
9. Cancellation and Refunds
9.1 How to Cancel
You may cancel your subscription using the cancellation controls available in your account.
If the account cancellation control is unavailable, use Contact and Support and identify the request as a cancellation or billing request.
Addienator may take reasonable steps to verify the account holder’s identity before processing a cancellation submitted through support.
9.2 Effect of Cancellation
Cancellation stops the next automatic renewal.
Cancellation does not normally end access immediately.
9.3 Cancellation During a Paid Period
If you cancel during a paid monthly or annual period, you retain access through the end of the period already paid for.
The subscription does not renew after that period.
9.4 Refunds
Except where required by applicable law or expressly approved by Addienator:
- subscription payments are non-refundable;
- unused time is not exchanged for cash;
- partial billing periods are not prorated; and
- cancellation does not create a credit for a future purchase.
Nothing in this section limits a refund, chargeback, cancellation right, warranty, or other remedy required by applicable law.
9.5 Billing Errors
Contact Addienator promptly if you believe that:
- you were charged an incorrect amount;
- you were charged after a timely cancellation;
- you were charged more than once for the same period; or
- a charge was otherwise unauthorized or incorrect.
Provide only the information reasonably required to identify the account and transaction. Do not send full payment-card details through Contact and Support.
10. Plan Changes
10.1 Upgrades
An upgrade may change the available features, billing amount, and renewal terms.
Any immediate charge, prorated adjustment, or future billing amount must be disclosed before you confirm the upgrade.
10.2 Downgrades
A downgrade limits access to the features included with the lower plan.
A project created with Pro or Enterprise features may still contain data from those features after a downgrade. That data is not intentionally removed from the portable project file solely because of the plan change.
Features unavailable under the active plan will remain unavailable until eligible access is restored.
10.3 No Destruction Based on Plan
Changing plans does not authorize Addienator to delete project content stored in your portable project files.
You remain responsible for protecting and backing up those files.
11. AI Providers and Other Third-Party Services
11.1 Standard and Pro AI Connection
Standard and Pro require the user’s own Google Gemini API key.
When you request AI processing, selected project content, instructions, and supported provider file operations travel directly between your browser and Google.
Google service availability and Google usage charges are separate from the Addienator subscription.
Your use of Google Gemini is subject to Google’s applicable terms, privacy practices, usage policies, account settings, and technical limitations.
11.2 Enterprise AI Connection
Enterprise AI requests travel:
- from the member’s browser;
- through a proxy hosted and controlled by the organization; and
- to the AI provider configured by the organization.
The organization controls its provider account, credentials, approved route, and available provider settings.
The applicable provider and Enterprise agreements govern that processing.
11.3 Addienator Is Not the AI Provider
Addienator does not control or guarantee:
- an AI provider’s availability;
- response times;
- usage limits;
- prices;
- supported models;
- output quality;
- retention practices;
- deletion practices;
- regional processing;
- model-training practices; or
- changes to provider terms.
11.4 Payment and Website Services
Payments, transactional email, account access, consent management, and optional analytics may be provided by third parties.
Those services are subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
12. User Content and Project Outputs
12.1 Your Content
“Your Content” means source files, prompts, project decisions, instructions, imported documents, generated content, and other materials that you place in or create through the application.
You retain the rights you hold in Your Content.
Addienator does not claim ownership of Your Content merely because you use the application.
12.2 Your Responsibility for Content
You represent and warrant that you have the rights, permissions, and lawful authority necessary to:
- upload or process Your Content;
- send selected content to the connected AI provider;
- create instructional materials from the content;
- share the content with collaborators; and
- use the resulting deliverables.
You must not process information that you are not authorized to access or use.
12.3 Local and Provider Processing
You authorize the Addienator application to process Your Content locally in your browser and to transmit selected content to the AI connection required to perform an action you request.
Addienator does not acquire a broader ownership interest in Your Content through that processing.
12.4 AI-Generated Outputs
AI-generated outputs may:
- contain errors;
- omit important information;
- misinterpret the source;
- resemble content produced for another user;
- contain material requiring revision;
- be unsuitable for a particular audience or jurisdiction; or
- raise intellectual-property or other legal questions.
Addienator does not guarantee that an output is unique, accurate, complete, non-infringing, or eligible for copyright or other legal protection.
Rights in provider-generated content may also be affected by the selected provider’s terms and applicable law.
12.5 Support Submissions
Do not send confidential project content, credentials, or source files through public Contact and Support forms.
If you voluntarily provide material to support, Addienator may use it only as reasonably necessary to respond to the request, subject to the Privacy Policy.
13. Addienator Intellectual Property
Addienator and its licensors retain all rights in:
- the application software;
- the website;
- product architecture;
- workflows;
- prompts and system instructions;
- templates;
- interfaces;
- documentation;
- brand names;
- logos;
- icons;
- visual design; and
- other Addienator materials.
Subject to these Terms and your active plan, Addienator grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the service for your own lawful instructional-design work.
Except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise, you may not:
- copy or redistribute the application;
- sell, sublicense, rent, or commercially host access to the application;
- remove ownership or attribution notices;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract protected source code;
- reproduce Addienator prompts, templates, or proprietary workflows for a competing service;
- circumvent plan or access controls; or
- use Addienator branding in a way that suggests sponsorship or endorsement without written permission.
This section does not restrict lawful use of the Word documents and project outputs created for your own projects.
14. Acceptable Use
You must use Addienator lawfully and responsibly.
You may not use the service to:
- violate applicable law;
- infringe another person’s rights;
- process information you are not authorized to use;
- distribute malware or malicious code;
- interfere with the service or another user’s access;
- probe, scan, or test systems without authorization;
- bypass authentication, subscription, or plan controls;
- obtain unauthorized access to another account or project;
- automate requests in a way that unreasonably burdens the service or provider;
- misrepresent your identity or authority;
- resell access without written authorization;
- submit credentials or payment information through fields not intended for them;
- use the service to facilitate fraud, abuse, harassment, or unlawful discrimination; or
- use generated content without the review required by the circumstances.
Addienator may investigate suspected misuse and take proportionate action, subject to applicable law.
15. Review and Professional Responsibility
15.1 Human Review Is Required
Addienator accelerates drafting but does not replace instructional judgment.
You are responsible for reviewing and approving:
- the Source Document;
- course scope;
- objectives;
- outlines;
- Design Documents;
- assessments;
- practical activities;
- Course Redesign findings;
- On-the-Job Training materials; and
- any final training product.
15.2 Regulated and Safety-Critical Use
You are responsible for determining whether outputs are suitable for:
- aviation;
- healthcare;
- transportation;
- manufacturing;
- workplace safety;
- regulated operations;
- legal requirements;
- certification programs; or
- other high-consequence uses.
Appropriate subject matter experts, legal reviewers, compliance personnel, safety specialists, or other qualified professionals must review the work where the circumstances require it.
15.3 No Professional Advice
Addienator does not provide legal, regulatory, medical, financial, safety, accreditation, or compliance advice.
Generated content and product guidance must not be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.
16. Project Storage and Backups
16.1 Browser Storage
Active project information and source files may be stored in browser storage on your device.
Browser storage may be affected by:
- browser settings;
- clearing site data;
- private-browsing modes;
- storage limits;
- device failure;
- profile deletion;
- software updates; or
- other events outside Addienator’s control.
Browser storage is not a permanent backup.
16.2 Portable Project Files
You can save a project as a portable .addie file.
A portable project file may contain source documents, decisions, working states, and generated outputs.
The file does not contain your Google Gemini API key or Enterprise provider credentials.
Portable .addie project files are not encrypted.
You are responsible for:
- saving project files regularly;
- maintaining backups;
- protecting sensitive content;
- choosing appropriate storage locations;
- controlling who receives a copy; and
- following your organization’s records-management policies.
16.3 Word Documents
Exported Word documents may contain confidential course or assessment material.
You are responsible for protecting, distributing, retaining, and deleting those documents appropriately.
17. Service Availability and Support
17.1 Availability
Addienator may depend on:
- the user’s browser and device;
- internet connectivity;
- the connected AI provider;
- payment and membership services;
- organization-hosted Enterprise infrastructure; and
- other third-party systems.
Addienator does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
17.2 Maintenance and Updates
Addienator may perform maintenance, security updates, bug fixes, and operational changes.
Where reasonably practical, Addienator will seek to reduce avoidable disruption.
17.3 Feature Changes
Addienator may make non-material operational changes to:
- interfaces;
- workflow presentation;
- technical requirements;
- supported provider configurations;
- documentation;
- support procedures; and
- feature organization.
Addienator will not change the price, billing interval, or fixed paid term already accepted by a consumer unless the consumer agrees or applicable law permits the change.
Material changes affecting future subscription periods will be communicated as required by applicable law.
17.4 Support
Support is provided through the channels identified on the Contact and Support page.
Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, Addienator does not promise a particular response or resolution time.
18. Suspension and Termination
18.1 Suspension
Addienator may temporarily suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to:
- address a payment failure;
- protect account or system security;
- investigate suspected fraud or misuse;
- prevent harm;
- comply with a legal obligation;
- respond to a material breach of these Terms; or
- maintain the service.
Where reasonably practical and legally permitted, Addienator will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.
18.2 Termination for Breach
Addienator may terminate access for a material or repeated breach of these Terms, subject to applicable law.
Termination does not authorize Addienator to delete copies of project files stored on your own device.
18.3 Discontinuation by Addienator
If Addienator permanently discontinues a paid personal service before the end of a prepaid period for reasons unrelated to your breach, Addienator will provide the notice and refund or other remedy required by applicable law.
18.4 Effect of Termination
After access ends:
- you may no longer use protected subscription features;
- obligations intended to survive termination remain in effect; and
- project files already saved to your device remain under your control.
Sections concerning intellectual property, user responsibility, disclaimers, liability, governing law, and other provisions that by their nature should survive will remain effective.
19. Privacy and Security
The Privacy Policy explains how Addienator handles account information, support requests, consent preferences, project files, and AI connections.
The Security and Data Handling page explains:
- browser-based project storage;
- Standard and Pro AI routing;
- Enterprise AI routing;
- portable project files; and
- the boundary between Addienator and the selected AI provider.
The Cookies page explains the use of necessary cookies and optional analytics.
These documents are incorporated into these Terms where applicable.
20. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Addienator is provided on an “as available” basis;
- Addienator does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation;
- Addienator does not guarantee the availability or performance of a third-party AI provider;
- Addienator does not guarantee that AI output will be accurate, complete, current, suitable, or non-infringing;
- Addienator does not guarantee a particular instructional, commercial, regulatory, or operational result;
- Addienator does not guarantee that project data will survive if the user does not save and back up the project; and
- Addienator does not guarantee that every browser, device, provider model, or organization configuration will support every feature.
These disclaimers do not exclude warranties, guarantees, conditions, or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. Limitation of Liability
21.1 Excluded Losses
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Addienator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss arising from use of or inability to use the service, including loss of profits, revenue, opportunities, goodwill, or data.
21.2 Liability Cap
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Addienator’s total aggregate liability arising from or relating to a Standard or Pro subscription will not exceed the total subscription fees paid to Addienator by the affected user during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
An Enterprise agreement may establish a different limitation.
21.3 Exceptions
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law, including liability arising from:
- intentional misconduct;
- gross fault or gross negligence;
- bodily or moral injury;
- fraud;
- a breach of a non-waivable legal obligation; or
- any other matter that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
22. Applicable Consumer Rights
These Terms do not waive or restrict any mandatory consumer right available under applicable law.
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights concerning:
- clear pre-purchase disclosure;
- correction of checkout errors;
- receipt of a retainable contract;
- cancellation of an online purchase;
- refunds;
- chargebacks;
- automatic renewal;
- warranties;
- unfair contract terms; or
- changes to an ongoing service contract.
If a provision of these Terms conflicts with a non-waivable consumer-protection requirement, the mandatory requirement prevails.
23. Governing Law and Disputes
23.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Quebec, without limiting any mandatory law that applies based on your residence or status.
23.2 Informal Resolution
Before starting formal proceedings, you and Addienator are encouraged to attempt to resolve the issue through Contact and Support.
This does not prevent either party from seeking urgent relief or exercising a right within a legal deadline.
23.3 Courts and Regulatory Authorities
A dispute may be brought before a court or regulatory authority that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
These Terms do not require pre-dispute arbitration and do not prevent a consumer from participating in a class proceeding where that right is protected by law.
24. Changes to These Terms
24.1 Non-Material Changes
Addienator may update non-material operational provisions of these Terms, including provisions concerning:
- contact information;
- support procedures;
- technical requirements;
- interface terminology;
- provider references;
- documentation links; and
- the organization of existing provisions.
24.2 Material Changes
If a proposed change increases your obligations or reduces Addienator’s obligations during an ongoing subscription, Addienator will provide the notice and cancellation rights required by applicable law.
Where required, the notice will identify:
- the amended clause;
- the previous clause;
- the date the change takes effect; and
- the rights available if you do not accept the change.
24.3 Prices and Essential Terms
A change to price, billing interval, plan term, or another essential subscription element will apply only:
- with your express agreement;
- to a future subscription or renewal after appropriate disclosure; or
- as otherwise permitted by applicable law.
24.4 Updated Effective Date
The current version of these Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
25. General Provisions
25.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, the plan and price accepted at checkout, the Privacy Policy, and any applicable written Enterprise agreement form the agreement concerning access to and use of Addienator.
25.2 Order of Precedence
If documents conflict, the following order applies:
- a signed Enterprise agreement, for the organization covered by it;
- the plan, price, and billing terms accepted at checkout;
- these Terms; and
- incorporated policies and supporting pages.
Mandatory law always prevails where applicable.
25.3 Severability
If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
25.4 No Waiver
A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
25.5 Assignment
You may not transfer your account or subscription without Addienator’s written consent.
Addienator may transfer these Terms in connection with a lawful corporate reorganization, financing, sale, merger, or transfer of the service, subject to applicable law and the Privacy Policy.
25.6 Electronic Communications
You agree to receive account, billing, security, legal, and service notices electronically at the email address associated with your account.
You are responsible for keeping that address current.
This consent does not constitute consent to receive marketing messages.
25.7 Headings
Headings are included for convenience and do not change the meaning of the provisions.
